Remember when you went to school, and a step towards modern technology was being able to watch a shoddy made film on a television?
Well, modern classrooms have certainly come a long way since then, and it’s all down to technology.
In Technology’s Impact on Today’s Classroom and Why Tablets are a Must in the Classroom! we get a glimpse of some of the changes our grandchildren are facing. In particular, the role computer tablets are playing and how the introduction to them is creating a better, more equal playing field for many children.
What is Classroom Flipping?
Classroom flipping is a term which reflects the changing role teachers play.
No longer does the teacher stand in front of the classroom and impart their knowledge and wisdom. Today they are facilitators, mentors and guides.
The knowledge is ‘out there’ on the internet. The sheer volume is so great it is impossible for one person to keep it all in their head. Instead, children have access to it via computers, laptops and tablets.
A more equal classroom?
Supporters of computers in the classroom claim that their introduction has seen a leveling out of student outcomes.
No longer are the slower learners left behind or the brighter students becoming bored.
Each one can learn at his or her own pace.
Instead, our modern classrooms are vibrant learning centers where each student can reach his or her own potential – and all with the help of simple, but effective technology.
