Trails and Trials: An African Adventure Fauna Park Tales by Maretha Botha
Trails and Trials: An African Adventure” is the fourth book in the series “Fauna Park Tales” based on the original “African Adventures of Flame, Family, Furry and Feathered Friends” a GOLD MEDAL WINNER on a HarperCollins Publishers’ website for writers called Authonomy.
Four trails – one destination – the waterhole closest to the best place to cross the Tukani River into a neighbouring country. This adventure takes working-dog, Flame and his friends, on a thrilling, dangerous quest, searching for two small orphans, who were kidnapped by a gang of poachers and cattle thieves, as well as their valley’s cattle.
With the help of a meerkat clan, a gripe of sandgrouse and other feathered friends such as Mars, a martial eagle and Vera, an eagle owl, they go on a trail which leads deep into the desert – an area which presents them with many challenges. This fast-paced adventure takes place during one week and is told from four different viewpoints, because friends as well as foes race to get to the waterhole, and in striving to do so, experience their own personal triumphs and trials.
These illustrated survival stories will provide endless hours of reading pleasure to better readers who also enjoy seeing some illustrations of the characters (there are 45 colour illustrations), increasing overall reading pleasure. Book Three and Four should ideally be read in sequence. Even though the target readership is 9 -13 (Middle Grade), younger listeners will enjoy these adventure stories being read to them.
