How important is sleep for your grandchildren? Part 2
You probably know the answer to this question. Sleep is very important to the physical health and mental wellbeing of adults and children alike.
But, are your grandchildren getting enough sleep? And, if not, what are some of the consequences?
Research is now proving what grandparents and many parents knew all along – sleep is important, very important!
Sleep helps creativity
If a child is too tired to pay attention, it makes sense that their ability to think clearly and articulate their ideas is clouded too.
A lack of sleep tends to decrease creativity and lessen a child’s ability to use his or hers imagination, too.
Sleep makes us less cranky!
As grandparents you know how a lack of sleep affects a child’s mood and behavior. They are cranky, moody and just awful to be around!
Children are not able to control their impulses so when they become tired, they act up and can be quite naughty.
However, this can lead to substance abuse in teenage years as teens use caffeine, tobacco, drugs and alcohol to make up for a lack of sleep.
Getting a good night’s sleep is important for us all.
With the added pressures put on children and teens today it is more important that we help them get all the rest and sleep they need.
