We all know that food is the one thing that brings people together.
Here at Astro’s Adventures Book Club we love books and reading first, and eating second! With that thought in mind, and our tummies grumbling we would like to bring you recipes we love to share with our grandkids.
They are easy, a toddler would enjoy making them.
As well, these recipes have been specially chosen for that ‘WOW’ factor. They look great and they taste delicious.
Best of all, they are also very healthy! But, that can be our little secret.
Read the book then have a snack
After you’ve been reading Dr Seuss’ Cat in the Hat, why not make these delightful treats with your grandchildren.
They are so easy and delicious too.
Cat in the Hat Bites
You will need:
- Oreos or a cream biscuit
Here’s what to do:
- Take one top off the cream biscuit by twisting it gently
- Slice the strawberries & bananas
- Assemble with larger pieces at the bottom and top with the end of the strawberry
Start talking about the story
While you are preparing this snack use the time to engage with your grandchild about the book.
What was their favorite part and why?
Which character did they like?
What made them laugh?
What part didn’t they like?
Do they think the Cat in the Hat was a good guy? Why or why not?
You’ll find that by asking questions directly related to the text you’ll be helping your grandchildren expand their vocabulary, and increase their love of reading.
This recipe came from the very clever moms at MadetobeMomma
