Astro’s Adventures: The Great Escape – A Meeting of Felines

Nigel swallowed the goldfish and burped. He walked into the clearing where a gathering of cats had assembled. His brilliant white coat shone in the sunlight and he wound his tail up and around to draw even more attention to himself. A few of the younger female cats swooned and began to purr loudly. Nigel winked and smiled at them. A star glistened from his white teeth. He swaggered after Speed Bump Charlie to the center of the clearing where they both jumped onto a large flat boulder.

Speed Bump Charlie raised his front paws and the crowd hushed.

Twin tabby cats sat immediately in front of Nigel. They batted their eyelids at him. He grinned at them and his emerald green eyes flashed stars. One of them fainted.

“Felines, listen to me,” Speed Bump boomed, “You have been brought here to form an alliance against The Organization.”

He let out a hideous cry and all the other cats responded in kind.

“Together we felines are going to destroy their plans. We have just found out that they are planning on breaking into the Check Out.”

Cats Hate the Checkout Too!

All the cats gasped loudly. Even though it was a place where dogs were taken to be destroyed, the very thought of humans turning against their pets frightened them too.

Speed Bump Charlie continued.

“We still don’t know the full extent of the mutts’ plans but we have developed a crack team of undercover agents who are going to follow them and ruin whatever stupid thing they plan to do!”

Speed Bump Charlie threw his head back and shrieked with joy at his own genius.

He then continued, “Here in front of you all, I stand with Nigel, who I am going to appoint as my second in command.”

Nigel looked at him puzzled and wondered what the time was. Spoiling the dogs’ games was one thing, but missing out on his afternoon nap was a very serious matter.

“And also,” continued Speed Bump Charlie, “The twins, Cookie and Crumble, who are brilliant at camouflage and confusing people as they appear as one cat instead of two will be part of my team!”

With that the two identical tabby cats hopped up and bowed to the crowd. They both wrapped their tails around Nigel and purred.

“I’m Cookie,” whispered one.

“I’m Crumble,” cooed the other.

Speed Bump Charlie continued, “And this is Lily the Siamese who is able to tap into the messages The Organization sends to those silly dogs!”

The Siamese cat leapt onto the rock and joined the others. She touched her headset to show the crowd how she was able to overhear messages from The Organization. She bowed quickly to the crowd but unlike the others, she ignored Nigel. A great cheer was given as they applauded their brave feline spies.
