Astro’s Adventures: The Great Escape – Not the Checkout!
A terrible dread filled their hearts. Lumps formed in their throats. Mouths became dry and Dingo began to tremble uncontrollably.
Indy waited until Commander Rocky had left the room. She leaned forward and whispered, “Surely not The Check Out? I know Astro has not been honest with us, but the Check Out?”
Digger shook his head in disbelief and Alfie’s lower lip began to quiver.
They all left the room slowly; saddened by the thought that Commander Rocky was going to take Astro to the one place that all dogs dreaded.
The Check Out was the place that parents used to scare small puppies with if they were naughty.
Surely, even Commander Rocky was not that cruel. He had every right to be angry but to take Astro to the Check Out seemed to be over the top and unnecessary.
No One Could Sleep
None of the Operatives slept well that night. They tossed and turned; their hearts full of fear and dread.
The next morning the following email was waiting on Commander Rocky’s desk.
From: Operative Astro
To: The Organization
Sent: Wednesday, May 27, 8:50 AM
Subject: Be Quick!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Commander Rocky,
I am sending you this SMS – Save My Sanity – as a matter of high priority. My human has gone insane, I mean worse than usual. Her myface game is off line sending her stark raving mad. Without something to occupy her time she paces the house whining how bored she is. I am worried she has me in her sights, OMG! I am correct; she is coming. I think she wants to play dress ups with me. Save meeeee; aaarrrrhhh!!!!
Commander Rocky clucked his tongue and threw the piece of paper in the bin. ‘Save you?’ his eyes narrowed. ‘We will see about that.’
